Reviewing All Blacks v Fiji Game 1 – July Internationals 2021 by Two Cents Rugby | Nov 16, 2021 | Blog | 50 comments Help Support the channel on Patreon: A look back at New Zealand vs Fiji from Dunedin ▻Buy me a Beer: … source YouTube 50 Comments James Parrot on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Should be a wake up call to the AB's on lack of physicality at breakdown … punched in the mouth at rucks … Boks, Wallabies and Pumas will take note … Reply Igor Ocash on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am I thought the Fijians played hard, but was unsurprised that they ran out of fuel at the end and the AB's piled up the tries, Fiji's weakness always seem to be inadequate fitness. With their missing halfbacks, and half a dozen players joining the team at the last minute – well, hats off to them for a superb effort and for the fine tries they scored. I had deep concern for Beaude's face. Once, I had a very similar injury. I jumped, arms high, and failed horribly to block a clearing kick back in 1972. I did block the bottom of the kicker's boot with my face, however. The good news was that he was wearing soft cleats or I could have been knocked out. Blood streaming out of both nose holes – for the last ten minutes of the first half. Stuffed them up with cotton at the halftime, and played on… Reply Owen McMullen on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am I really hope Super Rugby does Fiji well, they can really add a lot to world rugby if they can have their players together. Reply Robert Ratu on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Neutral brother 🙌 Reply murray leckie on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Brodie Retalick was the only player in black boots. The rest had the bright multi colour versions. It looks ridiculous ! Reply murray leckie on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am The crowd size was just over 15000 which is about half full. Reply Wiz on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Barretts goal kicking has been poor for a long time before the black eyes Reply Keith Allardice on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am This sounds like an intriguing game, much closer and more contested than the score would suggest – looking forward to game #2!! Reply Rex Longhon on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Just over 15,000 was the attendance Reply Soulfirer on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Damn …. But that was a good game to watch 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻From a 🏴 fan…. Reply mosese vueti on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am fiji only a wk to prepare.what a performance, hope nxt game will be very interesting.all tries by the abs are fluk. Reply Sam K on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Fiji needs to learn how to play the full 80 minutes, they had the same problem with the Aussies in the world cup. Credit to them for keeping it competitive against the ABs for the first 60 minutes though Reply Mark O'Brien on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Vern suggested that losing their only half back at c60minutes (replaced by a full back) didn't help. Dunno if thats true. Havent seen the full game yet to tell. Reply hohepateika1 on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Good game. Enjoyed it. Well done both Teams. Reply Lance Johnson on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am These teams should be bring there best or should we be making excuses all the time they know they are playing the All Blacks plenty of time before hand. The new excuse is covid. Reply Catherine Fraser on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Dan Coles and Sam Whitelock 🥰 Reply knarf zik on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am I think what stood out in this game is how Fiji was consistently clinical at the breakdown, most of the game. They consistently applied pressure on the ball, while maintaining their cool, despite such pathetic officiating All Blacks were a shadow of their old self. So painful to watch them throw forward passes, like they have no clue what sport they’re playing! You’re telling me the ref and other officials couldn’t see all that? Even commentators were lamenting the missed forward passes All Blacks player then tackles a guy in the air, without getting yellow carded, even after a player complains to the referee…c’mon guys, It’s 2021! Get corruption out of rugby already! I’m not Fijian, but I love the sport. It’s just awful that the image of rugby is being tarnished Reply islandboy4real Channel on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Alot of the Fijians and Fiji supporters are saying we need a better 10 or 9 or whatever, if y'all read between the lines and watch the game especially in quaters? Y'all gonna see that the all blacks beat fiji by a huge margin in the last quater, why you may ask? Bcoz the All blacks got a classy bench, just as classy as their starting 15 not only a good 10 or 9 subs but all of the position subs . We (Fiji) need to focus on improving our bench if we were to stand a chance againts huge teams like all balcks, which means not only focusing on a better 10 but the whole team subs should be world class as the first 15. I know Mr Cotter is obviously already working on it so lets just trust the process guys and cut some slacks for our players and coaching staff, just be happy for the boys. Reply Nick Hammington on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am I reckon we need to prepare ourselves for a few losses this year. Reply Ramses Alexander on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Ref was terrible. Very inconsistent, killed what would’ve been a closer game. Reply RugbyBubble Bryce on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Just quietly, I enjoyed the Fijians upsetting our breakdowns and smiled when they put the pill down over our goal line. I enjoy their style of rugby and if they had as much rugby as we do, they would be huge contenders in the world. And that wasn't their best team put forward either. It's obvious that it's not ours. A good lesson this early on. Mainly the forwards, though I am enjoying Blackadder, he was always there to clear the jacklers but it seemed he wasnt quite supported enough by the others. Awesome to see Rettalic back in black, even if he's not 100% yet. I think Fozzie and Plumtree will start with Whitelock (Samlock), Blackadder, Coles, Carl, and possibly, hopefully DeGroot next week. I think Beaudy was pretty good, he had the face of a 1980's rugby player, which was awesome. (Didn't like Paul Williams' decision, after Beaudy got raked by those spears under the forward player boots, yes stop the game maybe, but when he penalized Fiji for the scrum when the ball was out and playable, thought it was harsh.) I think Dan Carters boots were the only thing he could see, which didn't help his kicking. Reiko is playing a better game but maybe needs to not go to ground so quickly as he's getting Jackled a lot. Not sure how to fix that. Overall, both teams will have learnt what needs changing, looking forward to the adjustments next week. As always, thanks for your humble contributions Mark, really do enjoy this platform you've put together for us rugby lovers. Reply Adrian Lee on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am I wonder if the scoreline would have been closer is the ref and officials didn't miss the forward pass right in front of their faces right after Fiji's penalty try. So basically the ref just handed back the momentum to the ABs. Key moments. Frustrating. Reply Dave Jordan on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Bring the Pacific Nations (including Japan) into the rugby championship Reply Owam Sage Hoyi on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Fiji made Rugby proud Reply Stephen Pyra on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Perhaps the AB's should pick the same team for next week, see how these players can develop in a weeks training? Reply Mark Sharman on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am That was a tough game. Fiji were remarkable, and would have been even better if they had their halves. Just what the ABs needed. Reply Prof_Kaos on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am On Covid and travel…. Sydney in total lock down, travel to/from NSW is out for at least 6 wks. Sydney is in the sh_t with Covid Delta, ~15.000 known exposed with confirmed cases doubling everyday. I went to Brisbane for 5 days, travel stopped, bin stuck here for 3 wks. Queensland is doing ok about 12 cases. Hope to be finally hm tomorrow Sunday…. but missed all the bloody AB games so far **HURRICANE COLES** woo hoo … but I missed it … fyi France v Wallabies @ Suncorp 2 adults = $30 there's an upside to RA running Aus rugby into the ground, cheap seats Reply Dumani Mjo on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am I seem to remember Beauden's kicking being suspect at the best of times Reply P.Wright on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Im pretty sure the gold boots are Dan Carters new collaboration with adidas or something like that Reply houndofzoltan on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Did the game start at 8 PM New Zealand time or after? Reply Nicolas Williams on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Must be illegal a match with so many tries comming from line outs Reply Atunaisa Nabubuniyaka on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Well Bro at the end of the night,it will go down as one of Fijis best game against the ABs .To be honest thats what we proud Islanders wanna see at the end of r busy day @ the office Awesome recap about the matchLooking 4ward to another great game day come nxt weekSTAY SAFE & BLESSED Bro Reply SumoRugby on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT "SAMLOCK"!LOL, that was a funny slip of tongue by Justin Marshall. "The big Samlock, or Sam Whitelock I should say."We need to petition the media for this to become Whitelock's official nickname. Reply Vakacegu Osborne on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am TMO was having kava with the Fijian fans.😂😂😂 Reply Vakacegu Osborne on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Another awesome review mate. Absolutely proud that Fiji played well against the ABs. Forgot about covid for the 80 mins. Looking forward to next week. Mad respect to the ABs. They always find a way to win. Reply Jason Parsons on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am I agree about the boots thing. Last week with the Boks everyone was wearing different colours and brands. You would think the kit sponsor/manufacturer should also supply the boots, especially for international teams. Reply Jason Parsons on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am It's pity the ABs ran away with it in the last 20 which makes the points difference worse than what was actually going on on the pitch, but that's where their class shows I guess. Very entertaining rugby from both sides. Reply Ricardo Rose on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am AB always seems to get away with forward passes and penaltys that got there way at key points in the game … 3 forward passes and a penalty that shifted the momentum .. alway one please prove me wrong . Reply Blair Fraser on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Totally agree with the boots…if you want to stand out, make your performance speak… not fluro boots Reply zabaleta on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Having seen the Fijian side beforehand I did think they would do much better than the Tongans. Fijian loosies were tremendous! It's pretty clear Akira Ioane IS the only blindside flanker for the big games, partnered with Savea at 8 and Papalii at openside. His size, aggressiveness, power and being naturally intimidating would have helped.I don't think the AB's helped themselves at ruck/maul time by allowing themselves to be dumped on their backs so much, or being isolated from support either! Whatever the case may be, even with some latitude to seal off, Fiji were more aggressive and smarter at the breakdowns.AB's scoring off set pieces though, particularly from lineout drives, was amazing!Whitelock particularly was big coming on, controlling kickoffs, maul's and lineout tempo….the latter with Coles quick throw-ins. Reply Adli Anuar on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am The likes of Sam Whitelock and Dan Coles make a huge difference when they come on. Looking forward for next game💪🏻 Reply Wilbur Qumi on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am Some poor decisions cost us territory and eventually points… we missed an experienced halfback to help organize maul defense…we leaked points every time we allowed them into our 22… but these are things we can work on… hope the 3 from Oz make it… not bad given the prep time you mentioned. Reply Dee Cee on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am We did okYet again I will state on this channelWe need a new 10 😂😂😂So frustrating to watch As a Fijian Reply Charlotte Scott on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am You’ve really nailed Steve Foster’s name now. Glad the Fiji team showed good fight. Reply Charlie on November 16, 2021 at 8:46 am I know I said it a lot during the stream but Paul Williams ruined the game 😬 Reply Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
